1. A.K. Bissell Park

You’ll find a paved 1.25-mile loop that’s great for a morning or afternoon jog or an easy-going walk. There’s also a picnic shelter where you can relax and enjoy a bite to eat. After lunch, the kids will have a great time playing on the playground.

2. Arrowhead Park

Another one of the best Anderson County parks is Arrowhead Park! The walking trail there is a quarter mile in length, so it’s great for a leisurely stroll with the family. After your walk, you can have your lunch under the pavilion while you take in the scenic views. There’s also a public boat launch with parking and a designated lake swimming area. You’ll even have access to around 6 miles of hiking and biking trails for your entertainment!

With 28 miles of hiking, biking, running, and Nordic skiing trails, there’s plenty to do at Haw Ridge Park. You’ll also find 5 miles of shoreline that offer access for canoeing. This is a great place to observe native plant and animal species too. There are over 40 varieties of wildflowers, as well as deer, blue heron, and rare tree goats.

5. Norris Dam State Park

Norris Dam State Park features a full-service marina, swimming pool, game room, tennis courts, volleyball court, playgrounds, laundromat and a variety of places to camp. There are also 6 different trail systems on which you’ll come across caves, scenic valleys, sparkling streams, and wildflowers! There’s even a museum and a grist mill for you to explore during your visit.

6. Windrock Park

The trails are open 365 days a year and are used by all kinds of off-road vehicles. The campground there includes both deluxe and primitive cabins, as well as RV sites with full hook-ups, primitive campsites, 2 bathhouses, and 2 pavilions. This park also features a wind farm comprised of 18 windmills and a 20-acre premier event site.
