There are so many wonderful things about fall in Anderson County, Tennessee. The sights, sounds, smells, and one of our favorites – the flavors! Here are a few of our favorite places to experience Anderson County’s fall flavors.
The Soup Kitchen – Nothing says fall quite like a hearty bowl of soup. At The Soup Kitchen in Oak Ridge, you have your pick of 8 different styles of soup, 4-6 choices of homemade bread, sandwiches, desserts, and more. The best part is everything is made in house from scratch each day! The Bacon Cheddar soup is one of our favorites!
Museum of Appalachia – You haven’t experienced Anderson County without a visit to the Restaurant at the Museum of Appalachia. Your taste buds will be transported back to mamaw’s kitchen and you’ll be embraced with southern hospitality. Each week brings a new line-up of seasonal favorites, so be sure to check their Facebook page for the weekly menu.
Apple Blossom Cafe - A family owned café and catering service, Apple Blossom serves up the ultimate southern comfort food! From the turkey and dressing to the fried catfish to the hamburger steak, you'll experience good old Southern cooking bursting with every bite! Trust us, before you leave the café, you'll be planning your next visit. And don't forget to check out their catering menu for your next event.
Vega Café and Smokehaus – Anderson County is made up of small towns, but Vega Café and Smokehaus has brought big city flavor to us, and we couldn’t be more proud. Chef John Fletcher has a vision for his dishes and really creates a masterpiece of flavors. If you’re looking for chef-inspired cuisine, you have to try Vega this fall and every other season of the year!
Dean's Restaurant & Bakery - Located in Oak Ridge, Dean's motto is Simple. Fresh. Always. You will find delicious, soulful meals with Appalachian roots that will make you go back time and time again. The restaurant serves local, fresh ingredients every, single time! We highly recommend the brisket and be sure to try a homemade fried pie. Delicious!
Golden Girls Restaurant - A favorite among locals, Golden Girl's is a family owned restaurant serving up good ole' home cooked meals. They are known for their broasted chicken and we also recommend trying the hot roast beef with mashed potatoes and gravy. They have a scrumptious selection of homemade desserts too. We're hungry now, are you?
Coffee Shops – Is it really fall without a little pumpkin spice in your life?! We highly recommend stopping by two of our favorite coffee shops for a little fall flavor in your cup. One is located in Historic Downtown Clinton, E. Claire’s Coffee House is a great place to enjoy a pumpkin spice frappe, a delicious mocha or cappuccino and be sure to try one of their decadent sweet treats. Bud's Farmhouse Coffee, or as some like to call it, the happiest place in Oak Ridge, is a cozy coffee shop serving up some seriously good coffee, lattes, breakfast sandwiches, homemade yogurts and more!
