Hill of Truth Festival (HOT)

Clinch Valley Trail Alliance (CVTA) will be holding the Hill of Truth Festival (HOT) on October 1-2, 2022 at Haw Ridge Park. Their focus this year is to bring the party back to this event that has been taking place for nearly 25 years while raising funds to support the trail building and maintenance in Phase Two of CVTA's Haw Ridge Project. The festivities will take place at the Campground at the end of Old Edgemoor Road beginning at 10 a.m. on Saturday and wrap up about noon on Sunday. The main event of the weekend is the 12 Hours of the Hill of Truth mountain bike race taking place Saturday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. featuring a 7-8 mile course over Haw Ridge's rocky, rooty and steep terrain. The race course is different each year and shared to the public in segments in the weeks leading up to the race. The course is always challenging for both novice and veteran riders alike. Riders may choose to race solo, on a team of two or four and there are also e-bike and singlespeed categories.

Free camping is offered Friday and Saturday evening and we will have space reserved for trailers and small RVs. There is a free fun kids race through the Campground on Saturday at 3 p.m. and we plan to have a DJ playing when the bonfire is lit and spectators gather around cheering on the riders racing after dark. For folks not interested in a two-wheeled challenge and who prefer taking to the trails on two feet, we have the HOT Trot trail running race on Sunday morning at 10 a.m. Runners will follow one lap of the mountain bike race course and hikers and dog walkers are invited to join in the fun. CVTA has volunteer opportunities on Saturday in several areas including course marshaling and race registration.
