The Norris Lake Project Team will be hosting a lake clean-up on Saturday, September 19 from 9 am to 1 pm to help clean up debris and trash on the lake’s shorelines and islands.  The launch site for Anderson and Union county will be as follows-

  • Big Ridge State Park/Hickory Star-Meet at boat ramp near the park entrance off of Highway 61.  Volunteers will be working in the Loyston Sea area. Volunteers can also meet at Hickory Star but that launch point will be limited to 15 total participants.

Please note that we will be following all the recommendations from the CDC pertaining to COVID-19 for the cleanup.  If you are participating in the cleanup with family and/or friends, you will be transported and work with that group.  If you are not with a group, we will also be limiting the number of people on boats for transportation to allow for social distancing.  Also, a mask will be required when on the boat and when social distancing is not possible.  As long as you are appropriately distanced from other participants you will not be required to wear a mask when working on the lake banks.

We will also be serving lunch that will be pre-packaged.

Volunteers will be cleaning up the lake shore near the launch point and on nearby islands. Boat transportation will be provided but if you a have boat, you are welcome to bring it.  You are also encouraged to bring a life jacket if you have one.

Bags will be provided by the Tennessee Valley Authority at all of the locations. Participants are encouraged to bring gloves and wear tennis shoes, boots or other shoes with tread.  The lake banks will be muddy so please wear appropriate footwear. Each participant will receive a free T-shirt.
