Put on your dancing shoes, Manhattan Project National Historical Park will commemorate the Jackson Square Tennis Court Dances that occurred 75 years ago with dancing. The National Park Service is partnering with Explore Oak Ridge to host a dance in the Jackson Square Tennis Courts in Oak Ridge, TN on October 11th from 6 pm to 9 pm.
All ages are welcome to attend and everyone is encouraged to participate in the Costume Contest with their best 1940’s costume. One winner will be announced for best individual costume and one for group costumes. This free event will feature swing dancing music from the 1940’s WWII era. Food trucks will be on site thanks to Explore Oak Ridge. Public parking is available along Broadway Avenue near Kentucky Avenue and within the public parking in Jackson Square. In the event of inclement weather the dance will be held at the Ball Room at Doubletree by Hilton at 215 S. Illinois Avenue, Oak Ridge, TN.
