There are a large variety of off-road enthusiasts ranging from the adventure junkies to the scenery viewers. No matter where you are on the spectrum, Windrock Park is the perfect place for you.
There are over 350 miles of trails spread throughout 72,000 acres of mountains and valleys. All vehicles are welcome from ATVs and Side-by-Sides to Jeeps, buggies and dirt and mountain bikes. The trails are marked from easy to difficult and range from paved and gravel to dirt and mud. The trails are open from are open 7 days a week, 365 days a year so any day is the perfect day to ride. To access the OHV area, each person must have a Land Use Permit regardless of age or activity.
If you are visiting and do not have your off-road vehicle with you, don’t worry, you can rent one at the park. There are also numerous lodging options at the park and in nearby towns. At Windrock Park, you will find rustic campsites, RV sites, deluxe cabins and mini cabins. Also, adjacent to the park with direct riding access, there are other campgrounds and cabins, or you can find a hotel in Rocky Top, which also has direct riding access to the trails. Windrock is the perfect place to see the Buffalo Mountain Wind Farm which is comprised of 18 windmills, spanning 395 feet. Entry onto Windrock Park property requires a Land Use Permit. Windrock Park is located in Oliver Springs, just northwest of Knoxville with convenient access to both I-75 and I-40.
Windrock Park can also be accessed from the city of Rocky Top, located at exits 128 and 129 off Interstate 75. Recent legislation allows ATV’s to be on the road in Rocky Top, making it convenient for riders to access hotels, gas stations, grocery stores and restaurants including Cracker Barrel, McDonalds, Sonic and many locally owned restaurants.
